RüKONTOR (5. Etage), Rüttenscheider Str. 144, 45131 Essen

Diana is Head Guide at Highclere Castle, seat of the 8th Earl and Countess of Carnarvon, one of the finest stately homes in England, and now famous world-wide as “the real Downton Abbey”. From its 14th century origins as a palace of the Lord Chancellor of England, through the 5th Earl’s discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun, up to her day to day experience working with the stars and the film crew, Diana’s stunning visual presentations and anecdotes bring to life the remarkable parallels between the real life history of the Castle and its people and the fictional stories of the hit TV series.

Diana works closely with the present Earl & Countess and is delighted to answer questions and discuss any aspect of the Castle, the Park and Estate, and the filming of Downton Abbey.

Diana is accompanied by her husband, Horace, who develops the visual aspects of her talks and, as a lay minister at Highclere Church, is also familiar with the Castle, its history and the present Earl and Countess; there has been a church at Highclere since Saxon times.
